The "red-headed stepchild" in tax education throughout the year is state income tax. There are so many opportunities that are missed because we are not educated in that area...sometimes the best resource is a new client's prior year return by another preparer.
I wish there were a centralized resource to pick up "tricks of the trade" when it comes to our state's income taxes (such as mine, Alabama).

I agree. I think a community of professionals that has a wider membership across the country is the best resource for that.
